If you are not trying to stream simultaneously with both devices, there may be other things we can look at that may be the cause of the issue with your older MacBook Pro (MBP,) especially if it connects by wireless.

For example, we can look at the minimum system requirements required for Livestream:

  • Mac OS X 10.6+
  • Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari 8+
  • Adobe Flash player (not required for Google Chrome)
  • An Internet connection with, at least, a 5-10 Mbps download speed.

Then we would want to check the wireless connection quality of your MBP.

To quickly check, hold down the option key, and then, click on the Wi-Fi icon on the OS X menu bar. In the drop-down menu that appears, note the values for :

  • Security
  • Channel
  • RSSI
  • Noise
  • Tx Rate
  • PHY Mode
  • MCS Index

We can use this information to determine the wireless signal quality from the MBP's perspective.

You posted in the Mac Pro area, which is a desktop computer. Did you mean to say Mac Pro, or is the issue actually with a MacBook Pro, which is a notebook?

Regardless, please try to answer the following questions so that we can better understand the issue:

  1. Which exact model is your MacBook Pro and which version of OS X or macOS is it running?
  2. What are you trying to stream with this device?
  3. Where are you trying to stream it to?
  4. How does your device connect to a network, by wire or by wireless? How about the device you are streaming to?
  5. What have you tried, so far, to resolve this yourself?

I was using a Macbook Pro laptop - age: mid 90's.

Since the first MacBook Pros came out in May 2006, did you mean to say “mid 00’s” instead? Regardless, when streaming from the Internet you need sufficient bandwidth to do so succesfully, especially if you do stream simultaneously.

There will be, at least, three things that could be the culprit:

  1. Your ISP-provided download speed.
  2. Your wireless network speed.
  3. The host device that you are streaming to.

I was using a Macbook Pro laptop - age: mid 90's. It is running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

The program I was attempting to view was being streamed by a local newspaper (football game). It was streamed via "Livestream". I have used it previously to view other sports activities successfully. This time the program would begin, the picture would freeze, and then inform me that it would not load and time expired. However, I used my IPad and viewed the program successfully. Both are connected on home wireless network. Could the problem be that it couldn't handle two devices simultaneously?
