I have an OLD macbook 2008 and get the following error when trying to connect the new iPad to the macbook. The following error happens

yes oldie and I can't even connect the iPhone anymore to it…

If your computer’s capable of running El Capitan, you need to upgrade the OS.
If not, it isn’t possible to sync that iPad with the Mac OS X version of iTunes on it. Syncing a device running iOS 10.2 or newer requires at least Mac OS X 10.9.5 or Windows 7.

Thanks, so that means all my music is locked on the old MacBook and since the new MacBooks don't come with cd drives its all lost..... finally found bad apple decision.
