I encountered a problem with onclick rev

Hello everyone in the community!

I recently encountered a virus called "onclick rev". When I click on a website, it redirects me to another window, which is full of ads, and the window always start with "onclick rev".

It's so annoying, and on top of that, I'm afraid it could even get some of my personal information stored on Safari. Has anyone experienced like me? Kindly share how to remove onclick rev with me without listing some programme like mackeeper or macbooster. I'd really appreciate a lot!

I'm currently using macOS Sierra 10.12.4 Safari 10.1

UPDATE: I think I have figured out what to do. Unfortunately it does require wiping all your data and doing a real clean install so if you can afford that, follow these steps:

1. Restart your MacBook. Hold Command (⌘) – Option (⌥) – R right after you hear the chime to boot to Internet Recovery mode. You should see a spinning globe and a progress bar under it. When it's done, you should be inside macOS Utilities.

2. In macOS Utilities, choose Disk Utility and erase your main hard drive. You should see that almost all of its memory becomes available. There still is some recovery media mounted but you can't do much about it, just make sure that the disk you see under Internal is erased. Quit Disk Utility.

3. Click on Reinstall macOS and follow the steps

I have two Macbook Airs in front of me, both infected with this virus. On one device I erased disk and reinstalled Sierra but this did not fix the problem. Next time, I erased disk and reinstalled through Internet Recovery as told by Apple support agent. Again, no luck.

Strange thing I noticed while OS was deleted: macOS Utilities has built-in Safari, and it had this same virus with no OS present! So this probably means the virus is able to integrate with Macs on almost hardware level. Good job Apple, and yes, keep ignoring this thread, we will just buy Windows next time..

Hi, did that sort it out for you for good? I have the same problem with oneclickrev , I reinstalled clean macOS and the problem is still there.

A friend came and used my wifi and she still had a redirect on her computer. I wonder if it can travel through the router. Mind you, we live in a remote village( in Europe) and there are no other immediate networks around us.

Thanks
