My volume keeps turning down by itself when my earphones are plugged in

When I plug in my earphones the volume on the earphones will go all the way down to mute . Even when I try to manually press the volume up it will automatically go down again to mute and then it will refuse to go up .

I have already reset my phone so many times this isn't changing ! I am currently using iPhone earphones also .

How can I fix this ?
