I need a simple word processor for iPad....

I have an older iPad and I'd like to get a word processor that is Microsoft compatible. The biggest issue I have is internet access... I dont have unlimited access, and I'd like to be able to use a word processing app without being online and signing in to some website (like Google or Microsoft) in order to work on a document. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just decent, basic word processing. Any ideas? Please?

Assuming the iPad 2 in your tagline.

Microsoft Word will work on your iPad. You do need a microsoft account, but there's no requirement you be online to use it. It works offline just fine.

Beyond that there are many Word processors in the App Store that will work on earlier iOS versions.

A few examples:

Clean Writer on the App Store

Just Write - Minimalistic Writing App For Writer on the App Store

Notes Writer: Note Taking Notebook and PDF Notepad on the App Store

I went to the trouble and substantial data waste of downloading MS Word, and if would absolutely NOT work unless I was connected to Internet. It would not even let me type anything in, let alone save it. Wouldn't let me select fonts, or anything... I will check out the other suggestions you listed. I do want something that will be compatible to Word, because that's what I have on my computer. And I nothing to do with anything Google. Thanks for answering my post!
