Windows 10 Boot Camp won't recognize USB-C connected devices

I just set up a partition on my 2017 Macbook Pro with Touch Bar and USB-C. I've noticed that when I plug in my external hard drive, using a USB-C to USB adapter, that Windows doesn't recognize that anything is plugged in.

Is this an issue with Windows or Boot Camp, does anyone know of a fix?

This is a 2TB HFS disk, which W10 will not recognize. The ability to read HFS+/JHFS+ is no longer officially supported.

As far as I know, the drivers should be installed, I followed all of the steps within Boot Camp Assistant, and installed Windows and followed the steps after installation via Boot Camp. When I plug in my adapter, I hear the "tudul" noise, and I hear it again when connecting my external hard drive to the adapter; but nothing shows up as being recognized.
