problems with Exercise- and stand rings

Both my exercise and stand ring is not function properly on my Apple watch.

Excersise ring:

This ring goes round all day, even if I'm not exercising. Just by taking my dog on the morning walk gives me 25 of 30 minutes, and during my school-day i get another 40 minutes, so on one day, without any workout, i can get up to 65 minutes of exercise? How do I fix this?

Stand ring:

When I put my watch on my wrist in the morning I already have 1 hour of standing, and from there it counts almost every hour as standing, even if i´ve only been sitting at school.

The last 4 times I´ve done exercise I have tried to calibrate my watch to try to make the exercise-ring better, but it have had no effect this far. The stand-ring however, I have no Idea how to fix.

Does anyone have some good advice or, perhaps, experienced the same problem?

Hi

It may help to recalibrate your Apple Watch - starting by resetting your existing calibration data - by following the instructions here (this will not delete your historic Activity data):

Calibrating your Apple Watch for improved Workout and Activity accuracy - Apple Support

Activity-related estimations also depend, in part, on your personal information. To check that this is accurate - and to update it over time:

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Health > Edit - tap and adjust items, then tap on Done.

During general daily wear and when using the Workout app to record workouts when GPS data is either not relevant or not available (eg Indoor Walk), the Activity app and Workout app track your arm motion (measured by the accelerometer) when estimating results including pace and progress towards the Exercise goal.

For the best results, allow the arm on which you are wearing your Apple Watch to swing naturally as you move around during daily wear and to move as expected during workouts.

When calibrating, be sure to record Outdoor Walk and Outdoor Run workouts, recording at least 20 minutes of activity at each of the speeds at which you may typically walk, jog and/or run.

In each case, the 20 minutes of activity does not have to recorded all in one go.

The Apple Support article provides detailed instructions for calibrating your Apple Watch:

Keep in mind that the reported results in the Activity app may already be accurate:

In respect of the Stand goal:

  • Any Stand credit earned after midnight counts towards that new day's Stand goal. If you don't go to bed until, say, 00.30am, then you may easily have earned your first hour's Stand credit for that new day before going to bed and then putting your Apple Watch on again in the morning.
  • For the purpose of crediting the hourly Stand achievement, your Apple Watch aims to identify when you have stood up and moved around for at least one minute during any given hour. Walking between lessons at school, for example, should be enough to achieve this.

In respect of the Exercise goal:

  • To credit progress towards your Exercise goal, the Activity app aims to identify activity that equals or exceeds the intensity of a brisk walk. This requirement applies both during general daily wear and when recording workouts via the Workout app. Exercise credit is awarded for each minute during which this requirement is met.
  • The definition of a brisk walk varies from person to person and depends on your personal information.
  • If your dog walking and moving around during the school day are both carried out at a sufficiently brisk pace, then the Exercise credit reported by the Activity app may be correct.
