Maps volume too low in CarPlay

Hi,

The spoken navigation in the Maps is barely a whisper even though it's set to loud volume in the app settings. It's fine directly through the phone speaker.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What Kind of car? My Ford Edge you must change the volume only when the maps voice is actually speaking. For example: If maps is up but and radio is on, when i change the volume it changes only the radio volume. Only when the voice for maps comes on can i change that volume by turning the volume knob. Same was for phone volume. Took me forever to figure that out.

I found this explanation on another forum and it worked on my Mercedes-Benz.

You change the CAR'S VOLUME CONTROL during a moment when siri is giving audio voice guidance for map directions.

You must do this during a moment when siri is actually speaking the directions
What changes is the car's volume for siri's spoken navigation directions.
The volume the car subsequently uses for iphone music or audiobooks, for example, is NOT changed.
Just to be clear: CarPlay knows when its speaking navigation guidance instructions and when its playing music, and siri automatically uses the volume level you last chose for each. If its playing music and voice guidance instructions at the same time, siri interprets a change in the cars volume control (at that moment) to be intended specifically for voice guidance”

Hey, PFW.

It appears that the directions you're hearing through CarPlay using Maps isn't very loud. I'm happy to help.

Set up CarPlay with your iPhone

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.

  1. Make sure that Siri is turned on.
  2. Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
  3. If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
  4. Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure that the cable is certified.
  5. Update to the latest version of iOS.
  6. Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.

Cheers!
