corrupt backup and can't delete it

I get the message below when I try to back up my phone. There are no backups showing in device preferences, so nothing to delete. How can I delete a backup that isn't there?

Hi, Marion!

Thanks so much for being a part of the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I understand that you are trying to create a backup of your iPhone using iTunes, but when you do, you are running into an error about a corrupt backup. The error advises to delete the offending backup, but you can't find it. I'd be happy to help.

The following article reviews steps to take if you have trouble creating, or restoring, an iTunes backup: If your iTunes backup couldn't be completed or you can't restore from a backup . Should you continue to experience trouble after going through those steps, please reach out to Apple Support directly. You can do that here: Contact Apple Support .

Have a lovely day.
