iPad Air 2 WiFi overheated in iPort charger

I'm a long time user of all Apple products and currently own 4 iPads. I use two iPad Air 2 devices with LaunchPort wall charging (induction) units. The LaunchPort units charge the iPad and are useful to display video cameras that are part of my security system.

I noticed for a few days a yellow tinted line on the screen. I didn't think much of it and changed the display to see if that helped. Today, I noticed the iPad looked like the screen was bowed-out a little. The unit was very warm.

I took the iPad off the wall LaunchPort and when removing the case that it sits in, I could see that the screen was bowed a lot. I tried to remove the iPad from the charging case that connects to the LaunchPort, but when I was slipping the case off, the iPad sprung open (i.e., the back of the iPad separated from the screen in one corner).

The iPad is slightly older than 1 year, so I don't think it's under warranty any longer.

I am watching my second iPad to see if I detect a similar problem.

Anyone have a similar issue?

Hi i work for an audio visual company, and as a user interface we suggest to use an ipad with the launchport charging station, and have had the same issue with over a dozen ipad and ipad mini's over the last 2 years.

And we take it to the apple store and it is replaced on the spot no questions asked.

Apple, Is there a known issue with the latest ipad battery?

or is it the launchport itself as i did notice the launchport has 15volts power, where as the apple charger is only 5volts.
