I have to unplug and plug back in to charge

Hi all,

I have an USB-Lightning cable attached to my laptop (I have tried through docking station / directly in my laptop / through the USB in my external monitor etc.. the problem remains) used for charging my phone.

However since recently, when I connect my Iphone 6s to the cable (the USB end part is already inserted in my laptop) and thus both ends of the cable are connected, my phone won't charge.

I have to manually unplug the USB part from my computer (while the lightning end is still connected to my Iphone) and plug it back in, only then will my Iphone charge.

This is rather tedious as I would prefer to just plug in the lightning cable in my phone and directly see it charging up.

Anybody has any advice on how to fix this?

Kind regards

iPhone 6s, iOS 10.3.3

Hi

Follow the steps here, including checking the charging port for any lint or other debris:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support

Ensure that you are using either a genuine Apple cable or an Apple-certified / MFi cable. If you are already doing so, try instead using another such cable. Apple also recommends using genuine Apple USB Power Adapters.

If necessary, contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:
