iPhone 7 Plus Optical Image Stabilization

Hello good day! I hope everyone is having an awesome day! I have a simple question about my iPhone 7 Plus camera, particularly on the OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) feature. I noticed that whenever the "CAMERA" application is opened and is on "PHOTO" mode, when I look at the lens at the back of my iPhone it wouldn't move but whenever the mode is set to "VIDEO", I can clearly see the lens moving compensating for the movement of my hands, is this a feature of the iPhone 7 Plus OIS?

I asked this question as I also have a Samsung galaxy S7 Edge and whenever the camera application is set to photo, I can clearly see the lens moving.

Since jiggling the lens about to achieve stabilization consumes energy, in photo mode the only time it is needed is when you click the shutter whereas it needs to be on all the time when doing video. Try jiggling it a bit and watch what it does as you take a photo.

I don't believe anyone here will know the exact answer, as we don't work for Apple. We are users just like you. The iPhone and your other phone have different camera systems.

You can always contact Apple as they may have an exact answer for you.
