"Your system is heavily damaged by [number] virus!" scam

My new Apple iPhone 7 is giving me a very long message about a virus and damage to my phone if I continue in a Google search screen. The message starts out with "Your system is heavily damaged by Four virus! We detect that your Apple iPhone is 28.1% DAMAGED because of four harmful viruses from recent adult sites. [I have not been on any adult sites!!!] It goes on and says that my SIM card will corrupt my contacts, photos, data, applications, etc. Then it's stating that I need to install Applock for free on Google Play...and not to close this window.

Ignore the message, close the window. It is a scam attempt. Do not provide any personal or financial information to the thieves.

It's a scam, and not a very good one, ignore it. Don't install anything it tells you to.

Also, I'd suggest that you follow the steps:

Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then I'd restart your device (simply turn it off and then back on).

I got the same "warning" to-the-letter going to space.com. It's making its rounds.

If I'm going to adult sites I'm going with something that has a larger screen than my 6s.
