Comtrend Router Ethernet not plugged in

I have an IMAC 10.11.6 OSX El Captain. I received a new Modem/Router from Fairpoint; Comtrend AR-5381u. I now show status that Cable is unplugged but it is not. Have done resets/restarts with no luck. WIFI does work. Fairpoint says to contact manufacturer of modem but have not found any help online.

Help is appreciated!

Please follow the instructions below, we need to verify that the AV app is uninstalled. This needs to be addressed before addressing your connection issue. I would recommend contacting your ISP and asking them for recommended modems for their system.

Please post an EtreCheckreport of your system. We can then look for obvious issues. Please click the link, download the app and run the report. Once you have the report, please copy and paste it as your reply to this post.

The good news is yes, the AV app is not present. That is good to see. I do see some items that need correction:

First is the computer has some adware installed, re-open the report and you will locate a spot in it to remove the adware, it's a click.

Also you see to be operating the computer without any type of backup plan. This means you will eventually lose data including photos, music, emails, movies, financial information etc. This is a VERY bad plan, at the very least you should have an external HD and use Time Machine to backup your computer. If you are not familiar with TM please look over Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support. There is NO reason to not be backing up your system.
