Can I play music on my watch and use Nike+ at the same time

I have added music to my apple watch and have a bluetooth wireless head phone set up. I have made the setting so that it play music from the watch so that I don't have to carry my phone. However, I would like to know if I can be playing music at the same time that I am using an exercise app like Nike+.

Apple Watch, watchOS 3

This morning I bit the bullet and went for a run without the phone - just the watch and a wireless headset. I was using Nike+ as my exercise app as always. Everything worked fine and when I got back to the car, I checked to see if the data synched with the phone and it did without a problem. Now if Audible would work the same way, I'd be very happy!

Hi

Nike+ Run Club

I suggest that you consult Nike's support resources and/or contact Nike for assistance with questions concerning the Nike+ Run Club app and its features:

For example:

HOW DO I PLAY MUSIC DURING A RUN WITH NIKE+ RUN CLUB?

  • "To access your music controls, swipe from left to right on the watch screen twice. From there, you can quickly pause, resume, and skip a song or activate a PowerSong that is playing on your connected mobile device. Note: Your Apple Watch must be connected to your mobile device in order to access music controls.

Workout app

Music can be played (via your Bluetooth headphones) from the synced playlist on Apple Watch whilst using the built-in Workout app.

I have it working without a problem using both the apple iPods and a BlueAnt bluetooth headset. I had set up the headphones on my iPhone first. Then I used the Bluetooth link on the settings app on the watch to make sure the iPods were connected to the watch. At times it gets confusing when I switch from using the headset with my phone and then to the watch, but you can generally choose on the watch. I have the cellular version of the watch, so I can play any of my music on the watch by either downloading music to the watch or simply asking Siri to play anthing from the Apple music service.

I was having some trouble last week with Nike+ and the iPods after switching from the iPhone 7+ to the iPhone X, so I simply called the Apple support number. Within a matter of minutes, they had all of my issues resolved, and both Nike and my iPods are working just fine now. If I were you, I'd give them a call or use the Chat feature on support.

I'm still waiting for the ability to listen to my Audible books on the watch, but Audible says that they are looking into it!

I usually start the music on my AirPods(!) first and then start Nike+ on the watch. There are times when it takes a short time to start - especially if I was using the AirPods with the iPhone just prior to switching to the watch for a run. As I mentioned, I was having all kinds of trouble after switching phones. I couldn't get Nike+ to run on the watch as it kept telling me to set it up on the iPhone first. I even tried uninstalling and re-installing the Nike+ app without success. When I got on the line with customer support, the solution was to completely power down both the watch and the phone and then to turn them back on. When I did that, all my troubles went away.

I'm assuming by "iPods" you mean AirPods, yes?

I think I've got that all working correctly, as I can listen to music on the watch. But I'm not even alway successful doing that.

At any rate, I can't get any music to play when using the Nike+ running app. I've specified my playlist in the app in my iPhone, and even copied the tracks to the Watch so it won't have to use the cellular network. But when I start a run on the Watch no music plays. I can only get that feature to work by starting the run on the iPhone, which of course defeats the purpose of having the LTE on the Watch if I also still have to have my iPhone with me on runs.
