Hi. I have a 30" A1083 Cinema Display that I power with a 150 watt LED power supply. I got very discouraged trying to find even a used Apple power supply, as they were all so expensive. I got the LED power supply for less than $20. I found a power plug from an old Mac mini (which is the same as used by the Cinema Display) which I incorporated into it. Now I just plug the display's cord into my "generic" power supply and it works great. There are several YouTube videos that are quite good at explaining just how to accomplish this. I would prefer to use an Apple power supply, however considering what I spent on the display, it wasn't worth the expense to acquire one. If you choose to go with the "generic" power supply, make sure you get the correct output voltage, not only the correct wattage.
They have become scarce, but you may be able to get one here:
Hi, this is a scam website, not on Bbb but one review was found that buyer had to go through PayPal for refund.
Website is less than 2 years old but in business in San Fran since 2010 which makes no sense.
Free world-wide shipping is too good to be true.
I did did see something about using a $20 LED power strip power adapter as a substitute but I need an electrical engineer to see if this makes sense. 🙂
I'm sorry, I never got your reply to my post. Normally I wouldn't buy off a site like the one I included in my last post but I thought it was worth a try......not wanting to scrap my beautiful Cinema Display. I would like to report that it works perfectly!!!!! Almost can't believe it.....
There are some generic/aftermarket power adapters (replacement for the A1098) floating around on ebay. Has anyone tried them? I'd be curious to see if they work or how well they work.
Dale, did it work? I need one of these too and wondering if it is too good to be true.
Yes, scam website but an LED light strip power supply might work.
The website you provided doesn’t work???
Link worked for me
Typo on 1st one, sorry!
I too am looking for one of those adapters. I found one here http://http://www.pcadaptershop.com/apple-ac-adapter-c-19/150w-apple-a1098-66133 56-6110390-adapter-charger-p-259.html
They say they have 140 new units and offer a 1 year warranty. Never used the company but I am ordering one today. Can't use my MacPro without it. I will post how it went once I receive it.
