How can I turn on the Taptic Engine?

The Taptic Engine (which provides haptic feedback) is included within iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which provide a sound and haptic "click" upon pressing the Home button. Other models have a mechanical Home button:

If you cannot feel or hear a click upon pressing the Home button, then the following steps may help:

If you have an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, then adjust your Home Button click setting:

• Go to: Settings > Home Button - select your preferred click from the three options, which vary in haptic feedback intensity and volume.

If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone to the latest software, starting by making a backup:

Restart your iPhone (normally):

If the issue persists and you are concerned about a hardware defect, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider to arrange for your iPhone to be checked and, if required, serviced:

If you're talking about an iPhone, you probably mean "haptic", not "taptic".

Only iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have any haptic capability. You can set it up at Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
