How do I get my Mid 2012 MBP to successfully transmit to an external LCD monitor using a mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to a HDMI to VGA Adapter?

Having trouble getting any signal on my LCD monitor (on either Mac or Windows side), which incidentally did work once, but is now not displaying anything from my Mac nor is it being detected.

MacBook Pro, Windows 10, or current IOS

In general, you don't.

You cannot "stack" display adapters. If you need VGA at the display, you must use exactly ONE converter from the computer to get there. On the Mac, that adapter also must support the EDID data channel, so a really cheap off-brand adapter is not likely to do the job either.
