iPhone 5 disabled for 47 years
We have an iPhone 5 that has been used as an iPod for my kids. "Somehow" they disabled it by entering the wrong passcode for the next 47 year, 1 month, 3 days, 19 hours, and 22 minutes. Obviously, I don't want to wait that long to try again. 😀
I'd like to erase the device and start over. However, the only methods I know, aren't working. Here's why:
1. Erase with iTunes: iTunes can't sync with my device "because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." I assume that's because my kids changed the passcode since the last time it synced with iTunes. I guess there's no way to fix that now. 🙂
2. Erase with iCloud: Unfortunately "Find My iPhone" shows the device as offline. I assume this is because there is no SIM and, for some reason, it is not connected to wi-fi. If I could figure out how to re-enable connectivity without the passcode, this could be an option. Is that even possible?
3. Erase with recovery mode: As luck would have it, the Sleep/Wake button on this iPhone 5 hasn't worked for years. Therefore I can't reset the phone to get it into recovery mode. We do have a accessibility widget that is active which would allow me to lock the screen, etc., but most of that functionality seems to not work because the phone is locked. Perhaps there something in there that I could use to enter recovery mode.
Any suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thanks!
