Apple Watch Strap Peeling

I've had this watch, an Apple Watch 38mm, Series One, for about 3 months. I clean it only with warm water and tissue, no harsh chemicals or scrubbing brushes, and the strap seems to be peeling some sort of layer from it? Is this normal? If it's not, will Apple replace it?

Hi

Apple's instructions for cleaning, drying and handling your Apple Watch band are detailed here:

Apple Watch bands are covered under Apple's Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, but not against normal wear and tear or misuse.

If you are concerned that your band is defective, then contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider to arrange for it to be inspected and, if recommended, replaced under warranty, if eligible:
