Fitbit vs Apple Watch

My Fitbit knows automatically when I'm working out. But I have to manually tell my Apple Watch when I'm working out, what I'm doing, and also remember to tell it when I'm finished. That's just strange. Am I missing something?

Hi

Once it has been set up, the Activity app runs continually in the background, tracking activity during both general daily wear and when recording any workouts.

To record specific fitness activities, be sure to use the Workout app and to select the activity type that most closely matches your activity. The Workout app does not automatically recognise or record workouts.

Hi

Fitbit does not support Apple Watch.

Some third-party apps enable data to be synced between the Health app and Fitbit, in one direction or the other. For example:

However, Fitbit does not allow steps from third-party apps to be counted towards Fitbit challenges. For assistance with the supported features of the Fitbit app, I suggest that you consult the developer's support resources and/or contact them:

Similarly, Apple Watch supports Activity Sharing with other Apple Watch users, but not with users of other fitness tracking devices:

Share your Activity with your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If you wish to use an Apple Watch and still participate in challenges with friends who use other devices, then you may find the following third-party app of interest:

activity.club

  • "Challenge your friends! You can directly challenge friends in activities such as step tracking and runs to bicycle distance challenges and more."
  • "AC supports Apple Watch, Fitbit, Jawbone, Garmin, Misfit, Withings, Microsoft Band, Under Armour and more as well as fitness applications such as Apple Health App, Runkeeper, Strava and Google Fit."
  • App: activity.club on the App Store

Hi,

Unfortunately/fortunately I’d brought a Fitbit Charge before the first Apple Watch but love using the Apple health app but unfortunately can’t share my data from the Fitbit with the health app! Was thinking about getting the Apple Watch (which I’ve lost what model we’re up to now), but as usual with Apple products haven’t heard any real positive feedback only that ppl still find titbits more reliable.
