Apple TV Remote keeps asking to setup Volume

I have my Apple TV 4G remote setup to control the volume of my Denon Receiver. However, a couple of months ago, it started to ask if I would like to setup the remote to control the receiver volume every time I wake the remote using the Volume controls. I dismiss the dialog and the volume control works fine. I was hoping this was a bug that the last update would fix, but it did not.

I have tried:

-Restarted the Apple TV

-Updating to the latest software

-Unpaired and Repaired the remote

None resolved the issue. I would prefer not to wipe the Apple TV and start over, which seems to be the only option left. Hopefully someone has seen this issue and knows a fix for it. Any

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11)

Have you tried toggling the device controlled by the remote at:

Settings ➔ Remotes and Devices ➔ Home Theatre Control ➔ Volume Control

Yes, it didn't work either. I was hoping the OS update would fix the problem, but it hasn't.

I’m having this same issue and I’ve done everything except wipe the Apple TV and start over. I’d prefer not to do that unless I know it’s the only option.
