Downgrade iTunes 12.7

I've been running iTunes on Windows 10 for a few years without incident. Today I upgraded from iTunes 12.6.2 to 12.7. Performance on 12.7 is so poor, iTunes is now unusable for me. I completely uninstalled iTunes and all the other iTunes related applications, I deleted my iTunes folder, downloaded the 12.7 executable from Apple and reinstalled 12.7, but performance is still horrible. I store my library on a network attached storage device, but as I said, I have been using iTunes for years on Windows 10 without incident in the same configuration. I always had good performance.

Apple's download site does NOT have the stand-alone iTunes 12.6.2 Windows installer, that version of 12.6.2 you can download from Apple is for MacOS not Windows (it's a DMG file not an .exe). I know there are several sites that cache previous iTunes Windows (.exe) standalone installation files, but I am nervous about using one of those files for fear of modification by hosting site.

Does anyone know where I can source the pervious iTunes Windows stand-along .exe install file? I think version 12.6.2.20 was the previous version prior to 12.7?

Here's a discussion thread I found yesterday while looking for the same thing. It has links to all the various versions from the Apple server.

I tried to find one as well.

In theory this should be easy to find but is not. It is not readily found just by glancing at the old versions in the Apple support area. When I did find an entry, which appears to be for both Mac and Windows, it only would download the Mac version.

So I went to an outside location (How to find iTunes download link you need?) to find the direct link.

Make sure to follow JYOFord's rollback solution.

Hsvlllini you did it, thank you 🙂

The list of iTunes stand-alone-installers in the post you referenced is perfect and contains the Windows (.exe) version of iTunes 12.6.2.20. I was on the phone for hours yesterday with iTunes support being passed from person to person, half the people I spoke with didn't understand the difference between a DMG file and an .exe file. They kept saying Apples has version 12.6.2 on our Downloads page (just like JYOFord referenced). I would tell them, the Apple Downloads page has the MacOS version of 12.6.2 (DMG). I kept asking, where is the Windows (.exe) version of the 12.6.2 installer but they just could not understand what I was asking. I finally got to an Apple person who understood and said, you are right, our Downloads page only provides the DMG file for 12.6.2, I don't know where to get the .exe version of 12.6.2.

So thank you again Hsvlllini for providing a proper list of stand-alone Windows installers that nobody else seemed to be able to understand or provide.
