Weird email sent by someone named AppleID!

Hello everybody, hope all of you are doing fine.

Today, while checking my email, I was shocked by an email message that tells me that someone used my Apple ID to sign in to FaceTime and iMessage. The email message was sent by this email: Accountedmail@updatedaccountinformationnsecured.pleaseverifyyourpaymentinformati ontobackaccessaccountyourlockedprimary.mail.com

and they claim they are the "Apple Team", which is weird!

Here's the content of the email:

Dear Customer,

Your Apple ID, was used to sign in to FaceTime and iMessage on an iPhone 7 Plus
named " BeenSekians " We take security very seriously and we want to keep you in
the loop on important actions in your account,

So I want to make sure that this is not from the Apple Team. Is it from Apple or NOT? Because this is a huge deal to me if someone else is using my ID!

Thank you.

It is a scam. Apple provide guidance in these documents but the key factors are … Apple will always address you by your name or the name they know you by and that email will always come from an address that ends ‘@apple.com’. It goes without saying that the Grammar and spelling is always correct.

Never click on any links within an email that you suspect.

Not.

That much is clear from the email address it's using. That can easily be spoofed, but Apple doesn't spoof its own email address.

Not all such scams are as easily identified.

Such email scams are not an indication someone is using your ID, but to eliminate that concern, consider using Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support.
