It's normal for it to get *somewhat* hot, but if it is a concern, make an appointment with Apple or call them: http://getsupport.apple.com.
The iPhone will shut off due to temperature if it gets too warm.
Duuude I’m having the same problem!! Every once in a while I will have to take off my case to let my phone breathe for a bit. Usually it will get really hot but not too the point where I cant touch it. But one morning about a week ago, I left my charger case on my phone while charging in the outlet and fell asleep and I'm NOT exaggerating, I had the move your phone to a cooler temperature lockscreen and I immediately took off the case and when I grabbed my phone is was insanely hot I seriously could not touch my phone!! Like grabbing microwave mac'n cheese out when it's really hot and taking it out with your fingers. But yeah its a problem and I hope that in the future it doesnt do any permanent damage.
