Monthly cost of Apple Watch 3 with AT

My first review this morning is troublesome. My AT&T bill shows a monthly charge of close to $23 a month.

I leave this week for yet another international trip where cellular access on the iW3 does not work.

I will be keeping a diary now of the actual benefits of cellular access on the iW3 in view of these high monthly charges.

I was told by the AT&T billing supervisor that because the watch can make and receive calls independent of the phone, it will attract all the same fees, taxes and surcharges as normal independent phone. They are fixed price fees, not percentages, so the fees add up to more than the $10 access charge. You can see it here in my bill that these fees, taxes and surcharges are specific to the watch. 😟

AT&T currently applies a $10 per month access charge for Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) on compatible service plans for the paired iPhone.

On AT&T it seems the true cost is $23.65 per month. That's $10 per month for the "access charge" and $13.65 in government fees, taxes and surcharges. Um, no thank you.

The fees are not just for the monthly charge for that one device, it is for all of your WiFi services.

No, I have called AT&T and they have confirmed those fees are for the watch. On my bill I have separate tax & fees lines for my iPhone. I just cancelled the line access for my watch.

Thank you for these informative posts. I was distracted by all the credits given out at first but obviously I need to take a much closer look at the actual charges.

All those taxes and fee are on the 25+5.67+10.00=40.67...

I have a LG sport on my account and it costs just a little over 13 bucks a month....
