Can the audio out port be used for audio in (MacBook Pro 2017)

Can the audio out port be used for audio in on a 2017 MacBook Pro. On my previous MacBook Pro there were two audio ports. I used the "out" port to connect to a Kawai digital piano and then record to Garage Band.

You can't do that, instead try USB sound input adapter like following.
