Some time ago my apple mouse stopped working and so I ordered a new one. However before it arrived my iMac stopped turning on, and it needed repairs. Now my iMac is fixed and turning on but does not recognise my mouse. I have the log in page displayed but the mouse can't move the cursor to click on my profile icon.

Try unplugging all USB devices, un-pairing any Bluetooth devices, and essentially removing all peripherals, and then restart your computer with your mouse in discovery mode. If all devices are removed, it should search for devices and connect to your mouse.
