Previously we've been able to rip an Audiobook on CDs in iTunes and convert the collection of tracks into an Audiobook in the Options > Media tab.
Now that I've upgraded iTunes to 12.7, it's gone. I may be naive, but was that the only way to convert the ripped files to an audiobook?
Aha, seems to be a Mac issue. Windows lets you change media kind for multiple files at once. Assuming the tracks are in .m4a format then changing the extension to .m4b before import will work and iTunes will treat them as audiobook files.

From what I can see you can still rip the CD, however it puts it into Music, where have to change the type of each track to Audiobook one track at a time!
Apple have really cocked up bulk editing!
Hmm, I seem to be able to change the media kind for an entire book in one go here using iTunes 12.7. Not sure why you cannot.

In iTunes v12.7 not only did they remove the app updating I can't even get the check box column to rip a whole CD. Under preferences, general, it is set to prompt to rip CD and doesn't. I can pick one track at a time to import.
I agree, Apple really cocked up this version. My next hardware purchase is going to be other than Apple if they keep removing the features I want.
Two days ago they updated iTunes for Windows: Import songs from CDs which was not helpful either as it isn't what I'm seeing in v12.70.166. According to Help Check for updates this is the current version.

I can select individual files and the Audiobook option appears in the Options tab. If I select two or more tracks, can only select 'Music'.
I've got three albums and around 20 tracks on each. So much for chapters...
Would changing the filetype to m4b still work?
