Can you connect 2 Bluetooth devices on Apple Watch?

I'm wondering if either my current Series 2 Watch or the upcoming Series 3 w cellular will allow two Bluetooth devices to connect simultaneously...i.e. My Polar heart rate monitor AND my Apple AirPods while I'm out running.

Apple Watch, paired w/ iPhone 6+.

Yes, you can connect two Bluetooth devices (of a different type) at the same time with Apple Watch.
