1 - Export the photos out of your Photos library to a folder on the Desktop.
2 - insert a blank CD into your optical drive.
3 - drag the folder with the image files onto the CD's ion on the Desktop.
4 - drag the CDs icon to the Trash bin in the Dock which turns into a Burn button and burns the image files to the CD.
This will give you a data CD with your image files on it.

Old Toad's 'procedure' did not help because when a blank CD is loaded into the optical drive, no icon for the CD appears on the desk top. Also, there is no way to place a folder on the desktop, but an empty one can be place on the HD menu and photos can be dragged to that folder.
There are no instructions in the Photos help menus for doing this.
When you export from Photos (#1 instruction) you can choose to export to an existing folder or you can create a new folder
and it is clearly described in Photos help
Export photos, videos, and slideshow

Hi Larry!
Many thanks for the very helpful feedback! I don't know how I missed that instruction - poor searching technique, I guess.
I believe I was able to burn about 10 photos on to a CD, but when I tried to open the disc, I couldn't get it to open, and it's icon does not show up on my desk top. In fact, I had a hard time getting it ejected from the drive tray. Not sure where to go next.
Cheers,
Dave P.
Me either - that does not involve Photos for Mac - it sounds like an issue with your CD burner - check its manual trouble shooting tips or support forums
