ive installed a ssd on my ipod unfortunately once installed i keep getting the red x with a circle where am i going wrong ? ive tried to put the original HD back in and get the same thing please help

Have you checked with the source that you obtained the zif card from as they should be able to tell you which iPod Classic can accept which replacement storage?

There are several complications when it comes to replacing the hard drive on a Classic. For example (if memory serves me correctly), the original 6th generation Classic and the 6th generation 1st revision will not recognise replacement storage above 128GB, even if you install a 256Gb drive. I believe the next Classic after that (the 6th generation 2nd revision) will recognise larger capacity drives.

Your supplier should know about these issues.

I don't know. As I suggested previously, I think you should consult with the place where you bought the SSD.

Then contact your supplier, don't simply accept what you can read online.

I'm not sure what else to tell you. Apple don't support these modifications and I'm only telling what I've read about them. The capacity limit is why I haven't tried to modify my Classic.
