Macbook Pro recognizes internet connection but cannot connect to internet

When I run an wireless diagnostic, it shows I am connected to the internet; however, when I try to open a browser, it will not connect. I have tried Safari and Chrome, but both say that the page will not open.

What is the make & model of your wireless router or gateway device?

Regardless, try the following to get started:

  • Run the Terminal app, located in /Applications/Utilities
  • At the command prompt, enter: traceroute www.apple.com
  • You should get a series of responses ending at the IP address for the Apple website.

Is this what you get? ... or something like: traceroute: unknown host?
