what distance should the iwatch and iphone stay paired?

I'm looking at using a golf app with my iwatch and see it's needs to be paired with my iphone to transfer yardages to the iwatch. What distance will the watch and phone stay paired?

As you have an Apple Watch Series 2, which has built-in GPS, you may find this app, for example, of interest:

TrackMyGolf: Golf GPS scorecard range finder watch on the App Store

  • The developer's description includes: "Stand-alone on Apple Watch. No phone needed on course."
  • "Know exactly how far you are from the hole with measured distance to holes and hazards, for 35,000+ golf courses around the world."

To clarify: your Apple Watch and iPhone remain "paired" until you unpair them.

Whilst remaining paired, they may become disconnected from time to time, such as when they are taken out of Bluetooth range of each other.

When disconnected via Bluetooth, your Apple Watch and iPhone can still connect via Wi-Fi, subject to Wi-Fi being available on a golf course - but an app may not provide functionality across that connection.
