Solutions For Lack Of Headphone Jack

I have been a long time iPhone user and I don't want to get away from using them. However, I have a problem now that the 3.5mm headphone jack has been removed from the iPhone.

I work in sports radio broadcasting and I use my phone to broadcast games. I call into my local studio using my phone, which is hooked up to my broadcast equipment via the 3.5mm headphone jack that is on my current iPhone. The studio then rebroadcasts the call out over the air. The problem I have is that if I upgrade my iPhone, it won't have that 3.5mm headphone jack that I need in order to do my job. I've always loved the iPhone for my everyday phone, and everyone who listens to our broadcasts tells me about how clear they sound when we use our radio equipment connected to my iPhone via the 3.5mm headphone jack. So I am looking for a solution that will still allow me to do this with a newer iPhone.

Does anyone have any ideas? I would need something that would allow me to make and receive calls while still using a 3.5mm headphone jack for both audio in and audio out. And I would need it to be clear, like the audio is with my current iPhone that has the jack built in.

I had the Apple Store thought as well. It would be a lot of equipment for me to take and set up so I'm not sure if they would have a problem with doing that or not.

Do you really have to take "a lot of equipment" to prove functionality? Consider that the ABSOLUTE WORST that can happen is that you bring the new phone and Belkin adapter home and the combo doesn't work so you are forced to go back to the Apple Store to get your money back (you have fourteen days).

Here are some aftermarket solutions that may offer what you need. Otherwise, there's little any of us can do for you. You're going to have to either buy the phone and try the adapter to see if it provides the service you need and if not, return the phone or buy another phone from another company.

I understand that the new iPhones come with the adapter. However, I have not heard anything about how they will handle a phone call through that adapter or what it sounds like in terms of clarity. I need to be able to make a phone call using only the 3.5mm headphone jack. That is how our radio equipment works, everything runs through that jack. From what I have read online, at least some of the adapters do not allow for the two way communication that would be required for a phone call.

It seems any solution/option proposed is not acceptable to you. Perhaps your company needs to come up with a different solution for you as more and more high end phones are ditching the antiquated 3.5mm headphone jack. The world progresses, maybe they should as well. Otherwise, iPhone without a headphone jack seems to not be the right phone for you.
