My Beats X stopped working

They have been working great for months and all of a sudden they began to randomly not turn on just this week. Now when charging them I get a series of red and white blinking lights and if i unplug them they wont turn on.l I have tried a factory reset and even tried holding down the center and power button while plugged untill the lights turned off and that still did not work. They won't even connect to beats updater since they wont turn on. Any suggestions?

My BeatsX worked fine then today all of a sudden they stopped working out of the right ear. Left works fine but right, there’s nothing. Tried resetting. Nothing

Yeah, same problem mine stopped working about three months ago and I have not gotten a chance to fix and tried this fix and did not work. I have only had mine for about 3 months prior to this happening. I get a flashing red light when I charged and then they don't work. I am taking back to my cell provider in hopes they will replace them. Any additional fix suggestions would be great because the one here did not work for me either.

Hello Jtecho,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your Beats X headphones. Please try to reset the headphones with the steps provided in this help article: Set up and use your BeatsX earphones

Reset

  1. Hold down these two buttons for 10 seconds:
    • Power button
    • Volume down button
  2. When the LED indicator light flashes, release the buttons. Your earphones are now reset and ready to be set up with your devices again.

Thanks and have a great day.

Thank you very much for this extremely helpful hint/hack! I love my BeatsX...I noticed a lot of people mentioning that they they experienced the same thing after putting them in their travel case. If THAT had been the case, I wasn't about to buy another pair. I was hoping to find there was a reset process!

I’ve owned my beats x for two days and they already showed the symptoms mentioned. Definitely not buying beats again after this. I just turned 18 this December and I chose these headphones as my big ticket Christmas item before I start my life. They disconnect every five seconds and turn on based on whether they “feel like it”. It’s too bad that I’m going to have to turn my big ticket item into a pair of headphones that break in a few months of minimal use (aka Apple headphones) or good earbuds that have high quality but sound like trash because the dongle for the iPhone 7 makes the sound quality akin to a children’s toy. Apple needs to get their stuff together.

Actually, it didn't work.

I followed your directions to the letter, I held down both the power button and the "down" volume, and after approximately 10 seconds, the red light began flashing. I immediately released both buttons - as per the directions above. It looked as if it reset...but unfortunately when I tried to pair the Beats X with my iPhone again - I got the same white lights that flash 3 times, and nothing.

I need some help, I use these for entertainment and work.

I agree. It happened to me after putting them in my carry on bag as well. Did not fly, were travelling by car so no xrays.

This is not acceptable. The power button itself is a design absurdity. Nearly impossible to turn it on without looking at the power button because there is nearly no tactile feedback.

Apple, please fix this.

So I called apple support and it turns out that the Beats eventually need firmware update. So they led me through the process of going to the website to download the beats app to update, and part of the problem was solved. They did change my headphones due to another problem. They have 1 year guarantee.

I'm experiencing the same problem. The volume started to lower by itself while the volume controls stopped working. Besides that, I travelled to the beach by car and the on/off controls stopped working. I've done the reset and nothing. They lasted one year.

I did. They require you to verify the Device ID (usually a very hard to read number on the side of the earbuds) also in order to send them in you'll need to have the proof of purchase. If you do, just go on the web chat and they'll walk you through everything. Good luck!

Same here, I got mine for Christmas and only used a few times before the right side stopped working. I literally had them for only a week. Tried resetting and updating to latest software update and nothing worked. I'm really disappointed about how fast these broke as they were cool headphones and my first pair of wireless headphones. I recently just mailed them to Apple for repair. We'll see what happens next. In reading all the reviews the travel case seems to come up a lot with issues occurring after using. I even wondered if folding these in such a compact space was the reason for all the issues being reported, which would be absurd if that was the case!
