When I search on iTunes on my Mac, only music, podcasts, tv and audiobooks show up in the results. How do I search for apps for my iPhone from my mac?
I can access an "app view" from a link, like Games - App Store Downloads on iTunes -- but as soon as I search, no app related results appear.
I know I can search on the device itself, but I'd like to do it from my Mac as well.

What you are looking at is the Mac App Store, not the iTunes or iOS App Store.
That is only for macOS.
Please provide feedback to Apple and request it be put back the way it was in iTunes 12.6.2. Right now, I'd say downgrade to iTunes 12.6.2. There are numerous discussion groups that have the steps.
