Change color of shape mask

I'm utterly new at this.

My intention is to have white diamond cutout to play my video within. Instead of the two bars at the top and at the bottom, I want it to be all white with diamond cut out in the middle.

I've been using the shape mask to do that. However, It's black and I can't change the color of the mask.

Is there any way to change the color of the shape mask from black to white?

Or maybe another way to crop a video this way?

Thanks.

An alternative method might be:

If your "diamond" shape is a square rotated 45º, you can apply a Color > Colorize filter, create your mask from the Effect Mask > Add Shape Mask; Invert the mask, set the Remap Black and Remap White colors to the same color (just drag one color swatch and drop it on the other swatch). Set the Intensity to 100%.

This technique is faster and lighter than using a solid color generator put behind since everything remains in one clip. It also makes fading from the clip background to a solid color or back exceedingly simple (keyframe Intensity).

This technique will only work for a square shape mask. Effect shape masks cannot be narrowed from the corners, only from the sides.
