How to check bluetooth battery level in iOS 11

Pull down the notifications screen from the top of the screen, swipe right to get to the widgets screen and scroll it all the way down, there you will find an “Edit” button, click it and find the “Batteries” widget somewhere on the list, click the plus icon next to it, then tap the “Done” button at the top right and now you have the widget that show all connected batteries (like charging cases, Bluetooth devices, etc.) on your widgets screen

I finally got mine to work by using the steps below:

1. Swipe left to the battery widget. Scroll down, edit and delete.

2. Go to your bluetooth devices and delete the headphones.

3. Reconnect the headphones to the iphone.

4. Swipe left and scroll down to add the headphones again but when you add it leave the widget at the bottom. The battery should level show up. This is when it showed up for me anyway. When I moved it to the top where i would like to have the widget, it disappeared. I then moved it to the 2nd widget from the top and it still worked for me.

If you swipe extreme left which I usually call notifications and news page, then from there swipe down to bottom.

Hit Edit option at the bottom then add the batteries option there under edit.

And then you will get an visual percentage of your iphone and the bluetooth battery level. Find the image attached with this response for more clarification.

I have the same problem. Even though the widget is active it only shows the battery percentage of my iPad Air 2. The widget does not show the battery level of my paired Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard. There’s no indication in the Bluetooth panel of preferences and there’s nothing under the Battery preference of the System Preferences. Seems that it’s missing so there’s no way to check battery level other than to remove the batteries and put them in a battery tester.

THE REAL SOLUTION to this really frustrating issue for me (and a really stupid workaround) was exactly what jpathak mentioned earlier. I tried the remove/add widget and unpair/pair Powerbeats 3 (an APPLE DEVICE for everyone saying it’s because it’s a 3rd party device. C’mon, seriously? The only reason they are having this problem is because it was showing up BEFORE and NOW post-os11 it isn’t.) and none of those solutions worked.

To elaborate on jpathak’s post, the issue lies in the placement/order of the widget. For me, it needs to be placed in an even-numbered slot for every device to show properly. That means 2nd, 4th, etc... from the top. So I’m relieved to have my battery level back, but....

(This is more for Apple’s devs) Something else I noticed is that when my battery widget was in an odd-numbered spot, my Powerbeats3 wasn’t showing up, but I turned my Powerbeats3 off, it would make my Apple Watch disappear. Also, even though my Powerbeats wouldn’t show up but it was on and connected, an empty slot would appear in the widget as if that’s where the Powerbeats is supposed to show.........

SO my conclusion as a non-CS major is that this is simply a cosmetic issue and not a serious technical problem. Meaning, easy to fix. C’mon Apple, you are spitting out updates every week and can’t fix this. Why is this a problem? Because as a customer who bought a $200 or something pair of headphones, I have to risk suddenly losing music on a run or workout (playing off my Apple Watch) because I had to physically plug my headphones into my iMac to check battery level. At least my Shuffle would tell me battery is Low, 50% or 75% - or something like that. FIX IT! End rant.

I was having this problem with my QY8 bt headphones. Battery widget was activated and showing on the control panel, headphones were connected, but no data was showing in the widget. Restarted my phone, and now the info is there.

Umeshthakur, that's not what I'm saying. I can see the battery levels of most of my bluetooth devices, but those particular headphones don't report it. I posted it because some people are saying they still can't see a particular device.

And could that be because the headphones are not Apple products and are not set up to impart that information? Remember, third parties are obliged to upgrade/ update their products to meet Apple requirements, not the other way round.

Most companies do this by rote, so it is not an unreasonable expectation.

Scratching my head here. I wasn't complaining, but simply trying to point out that if a device is not showing its battery life it may not be something a person can fix. I thought that was pretty clear.

Oh dear! I can see how you came to that conclusion but my reply was aimed more at the general readership, some of whom tend to feel that Apple is responsible for what other manufacturers fail to do.

And you are right; it is not something readers can usually do but by following Apple's instructions for the same problem sometimes can resolve it, even for other manufacturers products.

Wrong answer buddy no point answering if u don’t know

So if u pull down from center top like as if to bring up all your recent notifications and then swipe from LEFT to RIGHT and scroll down to the very bottom it gives your phone % and all other %’s of devices conected to your device

No adding anything and no swipe down from top right and swipe right for a widget, if that’s the case your phone has somthing wrong because I’ve checked this out with 4 other devices and they all the same.

It’s actually quit easy.

Jpathak. Thanks. This worked for me too. I have 3 iPads (Pro 12.9, Pro 10.5 and Air 2) and several bluetooth headsets / earbuds /speakers that I use on all three. After pairing and unpairing so many times, each iPad had lost (or partially lost) the battery monitor for some/all bluetooth audio devices.

By just forgetting and re-pairing the bluetooth devices, as you suggested, I was able to restore all the lost battery level indicators. The key was first “forgeting” the devices before pairing.

Same bug. Widget is there, but connected devices not present.

I’m having the same problem. Batteries are showing up, just not the battery of the connected bluetooth device.
