Safari windows won't default to fill the whole screen

Hi everyone, whenever I open a safari window (or other similar windows I want to be "full screen" but not in the full screen mode, it opens it up nearly fully with just a small portion not filled on the left. This is very annoying, and I can't figure out how to get it to stay in a truly full screen state. I quit safari after putting it how I want it, but it always reverts to this.

Hi,

Try resetting the NVRAM: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063.

Try booting into Safe Mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262 and see if the issue persists there.

Try creating a new administrator user account, log into it, and see if the issue persists there: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204443.

If none of the above work, and it bothers you enough, you may want to reinstall the OS: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904

Make sure to back up first.
