I HAVE A SNAP-ON WATCH COVER/CASE, SINCE UPDATING TO WATCH OS 4 MY TOUCHSCREEN FUNCTIONALITY IS VERY POOR TO NONEXISTENT. I NOW HAVE TO REMOVE MY COVER JUST TO GET IT TO RESPOND TO TOUCH. MY WIFE HAS A WATCH TOO AND HERS DOES THE SAME THING!

I have the same issue. I checked the Wrist Detection option in Watch app on iPhone, and when I disabled it, no problem anymore. Something wrong with watchOS 4. Apple, fix it now, I cant normally use my watch!

Yes that is normal, however the reason for turning wrist detection off is because otherwise the touchscreen is very unresponsive with a snap-on cover on with wrist detection turned on after iOS 4 update, which is not normal.
Remove the case. That's not an Apple product.
I have 6 apple watches series 3 around me. None of them workswhen screen protector is on and the watch is being worn. When me and my friends are not wearing the watch, it works with the protector on, no problem... :/

Other users have reported experiencing similar issues with third-party cases after updating to watchOS 4.
There is no user-configurable setting for screen sensitivity.
If you would like to submit a feature request to Apple, then you can do so here:
Contact the developer of the case to see if they are aware of this problem and what, if any, fix they may have.

Switching off the wrist detection disables the stand ring sensitivity. I’ve sent feedback to Apple telling them to fix it. If everyone does it hopefully they will do an update to iios4 soon
I have the same problem. The touch screen worked perfectly on previous versions of watchOS with a snap-on case.
Strangely, it seems to work fine for a minute or two after removing the watch from my wrist, putting it back on and unlocking it, but then it loses sensitivity again.
I've sent feedback to Apple for this but the weird thing for me is other. I have a screen protector that is for watch series 1 even though i have watch series 2, the cuttings are not correct on the speaker on the left side but it fits even though it create a few air bubbles on the screen. This protector works perfectly fine! My new one which bought for series 2 and is more expensive more robust and doesn't create any air bubbles thus it fits perfectly does not work!
I have sent several emails to sellers on ebay to ask them if their screen protector works with os 4.0 but i have no reply from anyone. Does anybody have something to suggest that it works ?

Iwatch os 4 is not an option for feedback....
It is normal for turning off Wrist Detection to result in Stand activity no longer being tracked and credited.
Normal as in an intended feature of wrist detection being turned off if so why? Or no normal as in It has been like that for longer than we know but there is no good reason why it happens at all.
Please let me know if you figure it out. It’s strange bc it will work with the snap on cover if you are not wearing it, but as soon as you put it on it will not work at all. So is it a setting issue?
