I recently decided to try iCloud photo storage. My original photos/videos were *all* on my mac prior to starting iCloud photo storage. I am no cancelling iCloud photo storage. Will all my photos still be on my mac?

I cannot open Pictures after installing High Sierra. Tried to get iCloud connected to this Mac, but it won't open. Any advises?

I have logged in and out of iCloud and turned my iMac on and off 4 times.... all help are appreciated 🙂

Once you use iCloud photo library in you Mac, Mac system will want you to decide a library to be a major "Photos library" which will sync photos where photos in iCloud includes those photos in your iDevices which also join iCloud photo library. If you add photos into this major library, those photos will be uploaded to iCloud; if you delete photos in this major library, deleted photos will be deleted from iCloud storage as well as your local Mac. So be careful if a photo is important to you, you had better not let this photo join into major library.

AS long as your photos are still on your mac, cancelling your iCloud photo storage will not affect them. If your photos are deleted off your mac then you have 30 days to download your photos and videos from the cloud.

What happens after the 30 days? Will the photos and videos disappear from the iphone? I tried iCloud photo storage in my phone but want to deactivate now and use google pictures, if I deactivate it from my phone and then try to upload all the pics in my Mac...will it detect the icloud photos? I have not synced anything since I activated iCloud photo.

If you are syncing photos and you delete them from iCloud, they will delete from your device. They will be kept in a Recently Deleted album for 30 days and then deleted. If you want to turn off photos syncing, if you have the original photos (not thumbnails) on the phone, you'll be given an option to save them. You can then sync with Google.

Go to System Preferences/iCloud and uncheck syncing. Check the Photos application for your pictures.

Go to www.icloud.com > check Recently Deleted folder in the Photos app.

Are you logged into iCloud at System Preferences/iCloud? Is Photos syncing checked?

Did you try the Photos application? Photos/Preferences/ICloud to set up syncing.
