iOS 11 can't connected to unsecured network??

I cannot connected to my university network since I update my iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Pro to iOS11. I had question that the reason is due to this network is "unsecured network" same as starbuck wifi.

Someone encounter with the same problem?? It useful to level up security on my iOS device but some of my work can done with this wifi only.

At least it should had the function that user can choose by them-self to reject these "unsecured network"??

So I used a variation of the suggested fix (it didn't work for me) and this has worked with my offices Aruba network hardware for multiple iOS 11 people.

1) For your unsecured wifi connection, add an invalid DNS server IP (I used 192.1.1.1)

2) Try to Connect/Join

3) While it is trying to connect, click on the connection to view the details (probably not required but I did this)

4) Go to your browser and try to load http://www.apple.com

5) This might take 20-30 seconds, but eventually the wifi icon connection will show up.

6) Remove the invalid DNS entry.

I am having the same problem as, I usad to acess my work unsecured WIFI than an auto login page will appear in safari. But since I update my iPhone 6 Plus to iOS11 I can't. In fact, when there was a new update i thots that they solved the problem so i update my iPhone to iSO 11.01 but noting new. I did every thing I even tried to do it manual but it dose not work as well. we really need solution for this problem. I think users should have to choose if they want to contact to the unsecured network or not. I think i will go back to 10.3.3 it have less problems

I'm having this same problem - just upgraded my iPad to iOS11 and went on a United flight...It kept saying "No Internet Connection" from the wifi screen and then I couldn't get the united wifi.com page to load because it said there was not available internet connection.

My wife's iPad, right next to me, could connect just fine so I know it wasn't the united wifi that was the problem. It's like it saw the network but refused to let me go through the authentication page.

Really frustrating.

Why should it frustrate anyone? There is only one person who can mark post as solved, and that is the person who asked the question. As far as that person is concerned the problem is solved from their point of view, so presumably it solved their problem. If it did not solve yours, perhaps you have a different problem; instead of tagging on to a Solved problem, start your own thread by asking a NEW question.

Thank you so much for this! It was the only suggestion on this thread that worked for me. I reset network settings a few times. Forgot networks and tried to log in again to no avail.

I even contacted Apple Support with disastrous results. They had me run through the same steps despite me telling them I already did myself. The agent even had me reset network settings while on the phone with him which of course disconnected me from the call. He never called me back despite asking for a callback number in the event we get disconnected.

So I complained via Twitter which usually gets me a quick response from most companies. They asked me a bunch of repetitive questions and I reiterated that this problem is with ALL public unsecured networks and the log in page no longer loads on Safari. I even listed all of the places I’ve gone to where it won’t connect (Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Target, a couple of malls, etc). They determined that the problem lies with all the individual networks I was trying to access and that I needed to contact all of them. Really??? Even after I insisted this was working fine on iOS 11 public beta and stopped working after I updated to the official iOS 11 and this it is too much of a coincidence that all of these networks decided to stop working at the same time, they stopped responding to me.

So aggravating that you get stupid solutions from their support staff.

No dear Leon.

The only trick you can do on your iPhone is manipulating DNS settings as "ohmyjash" has mentioned above.

But unfortunately this is a temporary way and you have to do it everyday you connect to a no password protected WiFi.

The permanent way which I mentioned can be done only by your IT administrators on organization UTM, Firewall or Web Proxy devices to solve all IOS 11 users issue as well.

I have tried this numerous times and still noting. It just keeps trying to connect to the public Wifi. Also I noticed the automatic settings for the "Configure IP section and "Configure DSN, it is blank as if it cannot pull any info in? I have tried to manually enter it and it just does the same thing? I have asked other co-workers and their iPhone has no problems joining the public network in our building?

@Lawrence, my iPhone and my iPad seem to be able to log into public wifi's all over the city. But when at this one hotel, where I was logged in last time I stayed, it refuses to give me the wifi icon. I've tried everything including the suggestions you are saying won't work, and I cannot get the wifi icon to come up. My wife just arrived. She has the exact same iPhone X and iPad Air 2 that I have, and she got the wifi login page first time.

Any ideas?

Thanks, as i am now very, very frustrated.
