That control simply disconnects you from the current wifi network. It is not an on/off switch for wifi.

you make a valid argument, they are one of the most security conscious companies out there. But I still believe its a security risk.

Lets say a user is generally connected to a network. The network becomes compromised so they quickly disconnect their phone. The next morning when returning to work they network may or may not still be compromised, the phone they thought was taken off of the network has suddenly connected itself back to they compromised network.

i'm sure people smarter than I will be able to think of more security risks than I was capable of thinking of in the 13 seconds I thought about this situation. But i'm sure apple thought about this as well.

slow wifi is one major reason to turn wifi off. non secure wifi is another reason to turn if off. i'm sure I could keep coming up with many reasons to turn off my wifi if I thought about it for more than 45 seconds.....

Slow WiFi is a reason to disconnect from the network, for which the new feature is perfect. The solution to non-secure WiFi is even easier. Don't connect to it in the first place.

You mean that people routinely turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off? Once I've turned them on, I don't turn them off. It works quite well with my Apple Watch, and my Bluetooth enabled hearing aid. I cannot understand why people want to turn them on/off all of the time. It has a very minimal effect on battery life. Actually more of what they are doing to get to turn it off/on is probably consuming more battery life, agreed? 😕

As LACAllen mentioned, urban myths: battery drain, evil hackers, etc.

I used to occasionally turn WiFi off because it was faster than going in and forgetting a network that was misbehaving. Now, I don't have to! Turning off bluetooth was never even a consideration.

How would they know it was compromised? If it was compromised, why wouldn't they go in to settings and "forget" it? I don't think you're completely thinking this through.

Perhaps some empathy for fellow Apple fans would be in place.

I certainly acknowledged that this would not be something that everyone likes and that change can be hard. I'm not clear on what you expect of a technical support forum beyond that. In the grand scheme of things, this is an incredibly trivial matter. If Apple changed it back tomorrow, I would not be seeking consolation here in the forums. I'd submit me feedback to Apple and move on, probably to explaining how the Control Center functions had changed to the next batch of people.

Apple quit trying to be innovative and creating new and better things after they decided to spit out useless updated iOS an iPhone model s. They used to be one of the only companies that took pride in their phones not anymore. God for bI’d the phone improves on past instead of wiping them away and creating new things for us to get used to and annoyed about with. Samsung let me down and I went to Apple I realize that was a mistake now I’m gonna go back to flip phones. Phone companies

My thoughts exactly. I don’t my phone connecting to crappy public Wi-fi that is slower than my network/asking me for Wi-fi login details all the time. This issue really annoys me and if it wasn’t for Android phones being so full of bloatware I’d be straight over. I hate the apple way of “do it the way we say only” prime example being unable to copy and paste attachments into emails.
