Backup External Drive to External Drive?

Is there a device or software that allows backup of one external hard drive to another external hard drive? I backup my Mac OSX El Capitan 10.11.6 with Time Machine, but I save all my photographs and graphics projects to an external hard drive (6 TB Seagate Backup Plus Hub – 2017). My Mac does not have Thunderbolt or, as far as I can tell, RAID that would work. Is there a device or software that would allow me to backup external hard drive #1 to external hard drive #2? Not copying one to the other, but an actual, continual backup like what my Time Machine does for my hard-working Mac hard drive? I'm a dinosaur in the digital age, so any help with solving this conundrum or understanding better a workaround would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Time Machine can include your external drive(s) as part of its backup. Of course your Time Machine drive must have enough storage to hold both your boot disk, and the external disk, and all the incremental deltas.

If you want to use a different backup utility, there are many available. 2 well respected are

Carbon Copy Cloner

SuperSuper

They both cost money, but many of us think they are well worth their cost.

They can both schedule backups so they will be automatic.

They both can create bootable clones of your boot disk (should you desire such a thing; and many of us do desire such a thing).

You can schedule Carbon Copy Cloner's backups, I believe, although I have not had a need to do so. Another backup app that I use and like a lot is Chronosync. You can set up lots of tasks with it. Every time I process images, I run a couple of Chronosync backups of my main images folder to internal and external drives attached to my Mac Pro. It seems fast and reliable. You can also create tasks in Carbon Copy Cloner that only back up certain folders rather than your entire drive.

You are right to be planning for more backup. I'm not crazy about Seagate externals, and would urge you to make sure as quickly as you can that your Seagate drive is not the only repository for any files that are important to you.

I use OWC enclosures for 3.5” drives. Lately I’ve been using Toshibas, but have also used WD Black and Hitachis. I have two of the USB3/FW800 dual bay enclosures attached to my Mac Pro. Less cable clutter than four individual drive cases. You can sometimes get a bit of a price break by waiting for one of the OWC “garage sales” or by buying used enclosures on eBay. If you look for them on eBay, keep in mind that the OWC 3.5” enclosures with USB 3 all have large drive support, but older USB 2 enclosures may not.
