Inverted punctuation in ios 11?

I updated my iPad Mini 2 to ios 11. The keyboard has changed.

I need to type inverted question marks and exclamation points using US English keyboard, but can't find them. Help will be appreciated!

Until Apple corrects it, I’ve created two new keyboard shortcuts under Keyboard/Text Replacement:

  • !! is replaced by ¡
  • ?? is replaced by ¿

This doesn't answer the question and is completely unhelpful. The person is asking how to get inverted exclamation points or question marks because they can't find them in the keyboard since the ios 11 update. And seeing as I'm having the same problem, your solution doesn't actually help at all.

I’m having the same problem. I can’t get my question mark or exclamation point to show up on my keyboard since the most recent update, even when I shift. I can use my microphone to say them but sometimes my microphone symbol doesn’t show up either. It’s extremely annoying since I have passwords that may have those symbols in them. How can I fix this?

You are right, I didn't realize I hadn't upgraded my iPhone yet. I just tried on my iPad and it works in with iOS 11.0.3, the keyboard is Spanish (Mexican). When I hold the question mark down, it gives me three choices on the pop-up - quotes, colon and upside question mark

But with the English keyboard you now only get ". Brainless of Apple to have changed that I think.

Thank you for that, Skociol. It’s very easy to download a Spanish keyboard but why on earth should you have to?

Given the large Hispanic population in the US and the fact that Spanish is the main foreign language taught in American schools, it was idiotic to remove the inverted question/punctuation marks from the English keyboard. Come on, Apple. Sort this out!

At least you can still get diacritical marks (aka accents) by holding down the key on the letter you want to decorate them with. Far better than the Microsoft alt+146 etc nonsense.

If you want to scroll out of emoji to the next keyboard in your downloaded collection, just hit ABC in the emoji one.
