missing photo album name after iTunes sync

I have a photo album on my Mac which I sync'ed to my iPhone. Both are running newest OS versions.

The transferred album doesn't appear in the list of available albums on the phone.

However, if I use the search function in the photos app on the phone, it finds the album on the phone as well as all the pictures.

I had the same problem earlier today transferring an album to my iPod. This of course is a pain, because when one views the albums on the device by browsing the list with thumbnails, not all of the albums are actually visible and there is no obvious way to remember which might be on the device but not visible in the screen which shows all albums.

Mac runs 10.11.6 El Capitan

iPhone 6S runs 11.0 (15A372)

I'd really like Apple to fix this bug. Anybody got a workaround?
