Safari Sound Only Out Of Built In Speakers

I am on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) running a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 & NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB.

I am running MacOS 10.12.6 (16G29)

I run this with a wireless keyboard Model No.: A1016 and a Logitech M570 Wireless trackball.

I am running 2 thunderbolt displays with the MacBook lid closed.

When playing any audio through safari, the sound only plays though the built in speakers. It will not play through either monitor or any bluetooth output device if active. When playing the same exact content at the same time though google chrome, I am able to switch the sound output using the sound utility or the Audio MIDI Setup to any available output.

Does anyone have a way to fix Safari as I prefer it to Chrome?

Thank you

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

If you have not tried this already, please try it.

Reset NVRAM/PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18761

Reset SMC. Choose the method for “If the battery is non-removable”.

I've been having this same issue on my Mac Mini since the latest Safari update. It's only effecting certain sites - HBO Now and Disney Now are the two I've noticed. Meanwhile Netflix, Hulu, and any other direct streaming site seems just fine going through my external speakers. Ditto with Chrome - all services work fine there.

Will attempt the proposed solution, but this is not an isolated issue.

Can confirm with jmcway. I tried SMC and PRAM resets twice, no avail with some sites like tsn.ca and NHL.com. Like jmacway I have Netflix running out of my audio external speakers from my audio interface. Chrome runs all the sites through my speakers. Sounds like a bug with safari or it's interpretations of html on websites?

I had this same issue and found this response in another thread. It worked for me:

Thanks for letting us know. When you're using YouTube and Pandora, you're accessing them through Safari, correct?

If so, let's try this. If the Flash content allows access to the Flash specific settings on the contextual menu, follow these steps:

1. Right-click (control + click) on the Flash content area.

2. Select "Settings". If you do not see this option, then you will not be able to access the settings from this content. Try different Flash content.

3. In the Flash settings window, look for the Audio Output tab, which is identified by a speaker icon and appears on the far right.

4. Change the audio output device using the drop-down menu, then close the Flash settings window.

If this audio is played without the Bluetooth connected, the setting will revert to the built-in audio option and you will have to switch it back manually next time you listen to it.

I have same problem. Nothing works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have downloaded Chrome and I will stop using Safari. Most of the sites I use, MLB.com in particular (to watch baseball games), will not let me edit the Flash settings. I'm able to open the flash settings, but when I click on the speaker nothing happens. The mouse/pointer does not work, I can tab around, but I can't change anything. So my 3k MBP and my 1k new Apple display does not work with Safari - this would not happen if Steve Jobs was still running things. Shame I have to start using Chrome, everything is setup on Safari, but I need to be able to access the speaker on my Apple 5k LG display....perhaps if this gets fixed in the future, someone can respond here and let me know if they happen to see my post. I've been fussing with this for 10 days now and I give up!
