ios 11 , local storage not present in files app

Try the share menu: Save some file (a photo for example) to "save in files", choose "on my phone" then you'll see what is available. 🙂

Unfortunately it does not seem to be supported to create arbitrary root folders in "on my phone".

When I was trying the above i saw the local folders of the Numbers-, Pages-, ... apps - as soon as there's a file in it, the "on my phone" location will be shown in the Files app besides the cloud stuff.

When you put files in the Numbers app for example it will also be shown in iTunes in Numbers sandbox but it's not possible to show the contents of Folders inside the sandbox in iTunes (which might be a bug).

So - all in all - what you can do with it is very limited at the moment - hopefully there will be a workflow for using the local storage on IOS in the future.

I agree, the Files app is little more than an updated iCloud Drive app.
