entire whatsapp thread notifications disappear when quick replying to one message from the lockscreen

I’ve already contacted WhatsApp who are adamant it’s an issue with apple. I used to be able to respond to each notification in a group chat or thread individually from the lockscreen using quick reply, and now all of a sudden I can only respond to one notification before the entire thread disappears from the lockscreen and I have to open the app to access the rest...
